About DevLee Software

Built for South African businesses, by South Africans

We exist to make capable, professional software accessible to every business, regardless of size or budget.

Our Mission

Affordable, high-quality software tailored to the needs of South African businesses

DevLee Software's mission is to provide South African businesses with affordable, high-quality software solutions that are tailored to their specific needs, enabling growth and long-term success.

No business should have to compromise on the tools it needs because of budget constraints. Every engagement we take on is guided by this principle; from how we scope a project, to how we price it.

We believe in making technology accessible to businesses of all kinds by creating software that genuinely adds value. Our approach is rooted in integrity, ensuring everything we build is reliable and with purpose.

We are driven by growth. Not only for the businesses we support, but for individuals and the broader community. We are committed to creating opportunities and contributing to a stronger, more capable South Africa.

Our Vision

Technology that is accessible to every business, of every size

Why We Exist

The problem we set out to solve

Businesses face enormous challenges, especially in their formative years. Many owners are navigating unfamiliar territory in managing operations, finances, staffing, and growth, often without the resources or experience to do it all.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and informal businesses drive over 90% of the economy and account for two thirds of all jobs. However, over 70% close within the first two to five years. Poor management skills, especially financial management, and lack of resources, tools, and exposure are but a few of the primary drivers of early failure. While we cannot fix it all, we can at least address these few for you.

There are tools available to help. Generic accounting systems, marketing platforms, HR template bundles, the market is not short of options. But the question worth asking is whether those tools actually work for your business, specifically.

That is the problem we are trying to solve. We build software that works for your businesses, not against them. Affordable software that is designed around the way you operate, and built to last.

Our Approach

Every solution we build is scoped, designed, and developed around your processes, your team, and your budget.

Our Commitment

Our approach is rooted in integrity. Everything we build is reliable, purposeful, and honest.

Our Values

The principles we operate by

Integrity

Everything we build is reliable and purposeful. We are honest about what is possible, what it will cost, and what it will take.

Accessibility

Professional software should not be the exclusive domain of large enterprises. We make offer our services to businesses of all sizes.

Growth

We are invested in growth. For the businesses we serve, for the individuals we work with, and for the broader South African economy.

Practicality

We build solutions that work in the real world, prioritising functionality. Features for the sake of features is not something we believe in, only what genuinely adds value to your business.

People-first

Software is built for people. We keep the end user at the center of every design decision, ensuring the systems we build are useful and simple to learn.

Reliability

Your business depends on the systems that support it. We hold ourselves to a high standard of quality, testing, and post-launch maintenance and support to ensure what we build operates as intended.

Beyond Software

Building opportunity, not just systems

The challenges facing South Africa go beyond busines success. The job market is under significant strain across industries, experience levels, and educational backgrounds. Opportunities for meaningful growth are increasingly difficult to come by. Job security has become an unreliable or non-existent expectation for many.

We want to be part of changing that. As DevLee grows, we intend to offer structured (paid) internship programmes and graduate opportunities, with no barriers based on lack of formal experience or tertiary qualifications. If you have the desire and the willingness to develop your skills, we will invest in you.

We are not just building software. We are building opportunity. For the businesses we serve, for the people we bring on board, and for the country we are committed to.

"We want our country to grow, and supporting local businesses is just one part of that. We want to set a standard for how businesses operate, and not just in South Africa, but globally."

The Person Behind It

Shannon Lee Alberts

DevLee Software was founded in June 2025 by Shannon Lee Alberts with a clear and deliberate purpose: to support South African businesses by building software that works for them. The frustration that gave rise to the business was a familiar one: watching businesses struggle with tools that were expensive and generic, or simply not designed with their reality in mind.

"I remember sitting in the IT class in Grade 10 and working on a practical activity we were given. The scenario was to create some sort of a calculator for a business owner. I realised how much time that stupid thing could actually save a person, were they to use it. And that's when I realised, that is how I am going to make a difference."

With a background in software development and a strong belief in the role that well-built technology can play in the growth of a business, Shannon set out to offer something different: tailored solutions, honest pricing, and a commitment to the client that extends well beyond the delivery of a finished product.

The values that underpin DevLee Software are not marketing language, but something that reflects a genuine conviction that software development, done properly, should be a service that empowers rather than complicates.
